This video by Ellie Smart is of a sample of sand taken from a beach clean at Gwithian, a scary amount of micro plastic was mixed within the sand.
All the more reason to attend a beach clean organised by Cornwall Seal Sanctuary on Sunday at Gunwalloe Beach on The Lizard.
"Keeping our beaches clean is so important for the welfare of all the wonderful creatures in our oceans," says the sanctuary. "We will be going to our local beach of Gunwalloe at 12pm on Sunday 14th January. If you would like to join us, then please meet us at that time in the National Trust car park. Anyone who attends will get a free visit to the sanctuary.
