Redruth competitors shine at the Lions club dog show
January, it seems, is a good month to hold a Dog Show and the Camborne Redruth & District Lions Club Dog Show was no exception.
The weather was fine and a good turnout of canines and their owners to the Lions Club 38th Annual Fun Companion Dog show at the Redruth Community Centre, Foundry Row, Redruth on Sunday, January 14 helped to boost the Lions Charity fund by £222
Judge Becky Verran from Leedstown, who was ably assisted by June Trethowen, judged the pedigree and novelty classes and awarded perpetual trophies and rosettes to all the cup winners and presented Lion’s prize cards for first, second, third and special in all classes.
The Best In Show was awarded to Merlin (owned by Claire Philpot from Redruth) and eight times previous Best in Show winner Bliss (owned by Terri Mellow) this time was awarded the reserve best in show.
At the end of the day, after Judge Becky had judged her way through 133 entries, she said that she had had a fantastic afternoon where the standard of canine on show was very good.
Lion President Paul Bray thanked Judge Becky and her assistant June Trethowan for their hard work and presented each of them with a bottle of wine.
Paul also gave special thanks to all the competitors and especially to the sponsors who were:- Monument Vets (Redruth & Camborne), The Cornwall Kawasaki Centre Lanner, Gilbert & Page Ltd, Arden Grange, Burns Pet Nutrition, Royal Canin & IPN Inspired Pet Nutrition. .
