Following a successful Crowdfunder campaign in December, the Factory Art Space has moved from its home of seven years on Falmouth Wharves to a new warehouse space on Commercial Road in Penryn.

They will be celebrating the launch of the new studios and gallery this Saturday, February 17, with an open day from 10am and launch party from 6.30pm.

"In it’s new home the Fish Factory will be able to offer an accessible, affordable and inclusive space for local artists and community groups," said its founder, Rose Hatcher. "The aim is to give people a unique and exciting venue to make and see ambitious creative work. The space is on the ground floor of the Sail Loft building within easy reach of the creative hub of Penryn, transport links and Penryn creek."

The new Fish Factory has a café, performance space, shop, dark room and photography studio, a media studio, printing facilities and affordable studio spaces for the local artistic community as well as an international residency programme.

The space has been set up as a Community Interest Company and is actively seeking interested people to get involved and become a part of this exciting new chapter.

"Everyone is welcome on the launch day," said Rose. "The daytime is a chance to have a look around the studio spaces and enjoy a coffee and cake, there will be a special performance by one of our first artists in residence Justin Wiggan; art on display from our studio holders, virtual reality from InterAnima CIC and a live demonstration by illustrator Chris Odgers which can be booked online."

The evening festivities begin at 6.30pm and will feature a musical line up from the Choir, The Worm, Stuart Blackmore, The Memorial Fund and Herons. There will be local beer provided by Verdant Brewery and a spread of Mexican food.

A full programme of events is planned for the first few weeks which can be viewed at, and from Saturday, the gallery and cafe will be open to the public from Thursday to Monday, 10-5pm. The gallery can be booked for exhibitions, workshops, project space and events. Bookings are being taken now for the spring programme via
