In only its first season as a team, Falmouth Community Football Club’s under-11s have scooped the Kernow Youth League Championship Trophy.
After a series of closely fought games, the team met Newquay United in the final.
It was a nail-biting game, and Falmouth were losing 3-2 at one stage, they then scored an equalising penalty in the final minute of full time.
This forced the match into extra time, where Falmouth were victorious, eventually winning 4-3.
Coach Darren Bowers said: "This has been an incredible first season for the team. It is testament to the fantastic way that they have bonded in such a short time. The boys should be really proud of their efforts, commitment to supporting each other and sheer hard work."
Janine Kennedy, chairman of Falmouth Community team, added: "It has been wonderful to watch the boys flourish and get to know each other as part of this successful team. I’m sure that this trophy will be the first of many. I think that the success of all the Community Football Club teams is down to the commitment of the coaches that support team players and those who just like to come along on a Saturday morning to kick a ball around.’
