Falmouth Town 4, Godolphin Atlantic 2

DAVID BROGLINO'S hat-trick helped Falmouth Town book their place in the Walter C Parson Cup final after beating Godolphin Atlantic at Sticker’s Burngullow Park on Wednesday night.

Broglino’s stunning opener was cancelled out by Kyle Brown’s strike to take the game to extra-time, when Ben Colquhoun and Broglino each scored penalties to level the score at 2-2.

Brabyn turned the tie back in Town’s favour in the 112th minute before Broglino scored another penalty to confirm Falmouth’s place in May’s showpiece, where they will meet Tavistock.

A quiet first half was marred by an injury to main striker Jordan Annear who was replaced on 32 minutes by Rob Wearne, who himself came off injured against Stoke Gabriel at the weekend.

Broglino brought the game to life in style on 64 minutes, letting loose an unstoppable shot from 25 yards that flew into the top corner to give Town the lead.

Falmouth looked to be heading to the final, but Godolphin sent the game to extra-time in the 77th minute when substitute Brown scored on the half-volley.

Town dominated extra-time and came close to regaining the lead with Brabyn and Wearne both forcing saves out of Godolphin goalkeeper Ethan Fearn.

But in Godolphin’s sole attack of the first half, Brown went down under a challenge from David Blizzard and referee Lee Dudman awarded a penalty, which Colquhoun fired into the roof of the net.

Time was running out for Falmouth to find a goal, but they managed it in the 108th minute with a penalty of their own. Olly Walker was sent tumbling and Broglino stepped up to level the scores.

Only four minutes passed before Town had turned the tie on its head once again, with Walker crossing to Brabyn to head home at the far post and send the Falmouth bench wild.

Town were given another penalty when Wearne hit the deck in the 118th minute, with Broglino on hand to grab his hat-trick and apply the finishing touch on an excellent night for him and the club.

Packet Pick: There were plenty of candidates, including right-back David Blizzard who played well, but it has to be hat-trick hero David Broglino.

Falmouth: R Barnes, D Blizzard, O Moody, J Ward, J Cooper (c), R Martt, L Brabyn, D Broglino, M Jones (O Walker 68), J Annear (R Wearne 32), H Clarke (J Webber 79).

Falmouth return to league action at home to Sticker on Saturday.
