What is believed to be a 17th century grenade has been discovered at Dollar Cove in Gunwalloe.
It was uncovered by Mullion history enthusiast Nick Gibbons, who spotted it embedded in a rust coloured rock at Jangye Ryn, preserved thanks to "concretion."
Falmouth University journalism students Joseph Buncle and William Dax, who joined Nick, said: "The grenade is most likely from the shipwreck of the HMS Schiedam in 1684, with similar grenades having been found in the area in the past."
Dollar Cove is a popular destination for treasure hunters due to reports of silver dollars occasionally washing up, remnants of a Spanish shipwreck in the area.
