Work has begun on a 75 new affordable homes being built on the edge of a Helston primary school.

Mi-space, part of the Midas Group, is building the development at Higher Nansloe, on land adjacent to Bulwark Road and Nansloe Academy.

The houses, which will be classed as 100 per cent affordable, thanks to £2.3 million in funding secured from Homes England, will be managed by Coastline Housing.

The £8 million development will be made up of 45 homes will be for affordable rent and 30 homes for shared ownership (part-buy, part-rent). All will require a local connection to Helston.

Allister Young, chief executive of Coastline Housing, said: “We’re incredibly proud of our Nansloe development. As well as bringing much-needed affordable homes to the people of Helston it will also include a Coastline Construct project – a classroom based on site where college students can come to learn the various construction trades as part of a structured course.

"It’s shaping up to be a fantastic project that will change many lives for the better locally.”

Work on the Higher Nansloe project is due to last approximately 70 weeks with a phased completion, with the first properties due to become available early next year.
