ENYS House and gardens provided an attack on the senses at the weekend as the Penryn estate looked resplendent in the spring sunshine.

Besides the magical covering of bluebells, an Enys in Wonderland theme provided the creativity and colour of the craft fair in the house, organised by Linda Beard.

She said: "We had record numbers of children and they were all very well behaved, even the dogs. It was a great weekend with so many people entering into the spirit of the theme."

Linda, from Mawnan Smith, organised the seventh craft fair with the help of Mark Lace, Karen Narramore and Kerry Valentine.

The textile and fabric designer, who has worked for companies such as Coloroll, added: "There were almost 50 crafters there and I choose all of them, so to give them a showcase for their work is really satisfying."

In the gardens, there was an interactive trail in which children followed the white rabbit, croquet on the lawn and a papier mache Queen of Hearts.

Another craft fair is planned for late October, when all things Hallowe'en will come to the fore.
