The police helicopter was scrambled yesterday afternoon following reports of a child abduction in Camborne.
Officers were sent to Trevithick Road in the town shortly at around 1.15pm, with the helicopter called in for back up to help with the search.
The National Police Air Service based in Exeter confirmed that a helicopter was airborne and "en route to search Camborne" at 2pm.
However, it was subsequently cancelled after a women and and a baby were located.
A police spokesperson said: "Police were called to an address in Trevithick Road at around 1.15pm with reports of a child being taken by a family member whom it is alleged does not have access to said child.
"NPAS was scrambled but both the adult and child were soon located safe and well.
"Police and partner agencies will undertake follow-up enquiries to see if any crime has been committed in this matter, and will consider what action should be taken."
