Falmouth Marine Band took to the streets this week to promote this year's Falmouth Carnival which takes place in four weeks.

The popular annual event takes place on Saturday, August 11, starting at 12 noon at Falmouth Rugby Club Recreation ground with fun for the whole family with pre-carnival rides and entertainment.

Free entry is now open and marching parade entrants can register online at www.falmouthcarnival.org.uk or on the day from 3pm to 5:30pm.

This year the Falmouth Art Gallery is holding a workshop on the grounds between 3-5pm. Families are invited to create an automata inspired puppet to parade in the marching carnival.

Those joining in are asked to wear something stripy. The main event of the parade will begin from the rugby grounds at 6:30pm ending with a free carnival party down on Events Square.

Expect toe-tapping tunes, street food, and plenty of local brews.

All money raised is distributed at the end of the year by ballot to local Cornish causes by the Falmouth Marine Band.

Band member Chris Fallowfield said "We are hoping for a good turn out by the community to support this annual event, and were looking forward to seeing the diverse marching entrants into the parade, as well as unveiling our 29th Carnival Uniform".
