Penzance's Olympic double gold medallist Helen Glover has named her firstborn child.

The baby boy, who was born on Wednesday (July 25), has been named Logan James David Backshall.

Helen posted a photo on Instagram along with a caption that read: "Finally decided on a name! Introducing Logan James David Backshall. Thanks everyone for your lovely messages."

Baby Logan is Helen and husband Steve Backshall's first child. Helen met Steve, who is a wildlife expert and TV presenter, at a Sport Relief event in 2014.

They were married at Piskie's Cove in 2016.

Helen grew up in Penzance, attending Heamoor Community Primary School and Humphry Davy School before winning a sports scholarship to Millfield School in Somerset at the age of 16.

She took part in a variety of different sports including tennis, cross-country running, swimming, hockey, and although she found success in each of these (winning a junior international gold medal for running, captaining the Cornish hockey team), it wasn't until she was placed on GB Rowing Team's Start programme in 2008 that she really hit her stride.

At the London Olympics 2012, Helen and her rowing partner Heather Stanning won their first gold medal in the women's coxless pair, and by doing so also won the UK's first gold post box in her home town of Penzance.

The duo went on to defend their title in the Rio Olympics 2016.
