PORTREATH coastguards were tasked to the cliff path near Porthtowan, to assist the police officers to recover a suspected firearm that was part way down the cliff on Sunday afternoon.
It’s unclear why it was there, but the team's cliff rescue technicians, working with St Agnes Coastguard, recovered the weapon near the Tobban Horse. south west of Porthtowan.
They handed it over to the police officers at the scene.
If you see anything unusual on the coast, always call 999 and ask for the coastguard.
