PORTHLEVEN FC A are the new champions of division one of the West Cornwall Summer Pool League, despite losing 5-4 to the Seven Stars last week. Porthleven won the first four singles, but lost the next five frames.

Helston Football Club have snatched second spot after an 8-1 win over Helston RBL E, with singles wins coming from Gary Smith, who won the singles aggregate, Anthony Williams, Malcolm Fox, Mike Torr and Gary Martin.

Mullion Football Club defeated Breage SC 8-1, while Helston RBL A lost out on second spot after a 5-4 loss against Helston CC A.

Porthleven FC B have won division two on games won from long-time leaders, Crown Inn. Porthleven came from 4-2 down to defeat the Crown 5-4 last week and then won their rearranged game with Helston Rugby Club 6-3.

Ash Stidwell, Dave Leonard, P Chambers and Josh Ninnis all won against the Rugby Club.

Helston RBL D won their remaining game against White Hart A 6-3.

Wins from Ray Jackson, Craig Pound and Tim Pound helped the White Hart B team come from 3-1 down to defeat the Rodney 6-3 to clinch the division three title by one point from Praa Sands Golf Club, who lost 5-4 to Helston RBL F.

Helston CC B won 5-4 against the Lion and Lamb, while at the bottom the Red Lion defeated the Seven Stars 6-3.

The annual general meeting and registration for the Winter League will be held at the Godolphin Club on Sunday, start 7.30pm.
