TRIBUTES have been paid to a “cheeky” and “caring” young woman who has died suddenly.

Amy Jayne Morby, 23, was living in Camborne at the time of her passing on Thursday (September 13), having grown up in Ponsanooth.

Her friends and family have spoken of her great love for Falmouth and her caring nature.

They have now set up a fundraising page to pay for funeral costs and to hopefully place a memorial bench in a favourite place of Amy’s.

Those close to her also want to raise awareness of mental health issues and the funding challenges that services in Cornwall face.

They said that Amy struggled to get the help she wanted.

Her family spoke of how caring Amy was and how much she loved Falmouth.

In a statement to the Packet, they said: “Amy grew up in Ponsanooth and had a big place in her heart for Falmouth.

“She was a bright and beautiful little girl who grew up to become an amazing young lady.

“She volunteered at British Heart Foundation in Falmouth and she did the most amazing job caring for her gran when she became ill.

“Amy truly was a special person who meant so much to so many people.”

Close friend India Bundock said Amy would never forget to check up on those close to her when they had something important going on in their lives.

India added: “She always tried to take the moral high ground and do the right thing.

“She loved all animals. She really loved Disney and Pixar and any animations. She was very good at make up.

“She was very small and had tiny hands and size three feet, which she was very proud of, especially the fact she could buy cheap kids shoes!

“For a very small person she made sure she had a very big presence and was the life and soul of the group.

“Very bossy and cheeky, she was sure we always did what she wanted. She had a wicked sense of humour and an infectious laugh.”

Amy struggled with mental health issues and her friends said that services in Cornwall did not provide as much help as she had asked for and needed more funding.

The aim is to arrange a colourful funeral for Amy.

A fundraising page has been set up and can be found at: www.gofundme.com/funeral-for-an-unexpected-death

India said that a memorial bench would hopefully also be sited in a place that Amy loved, adding: “She was a fan of pretty walks - but not for too long and she definitely liked a bench to sit on.”

Family and friends also wanted to thank Amy’s closest friend, Jamie Sampson, who was by her side in all times, good and bad. They said they were “very grateful to Jamie for his endless patience and love he showed Amy”.
