TWO people were arrested after a van belonging to a Falmouth company was stolen and involved in a police chase.

On Friday afternoon Trident Plumbing, Heating and Electrical Ltd, which is based on the Ponsharden Industrial Estate, posted on Facebook to say: "One of our vans has been stolen and the driver is very wreckless and has caused damage. We are working with the police to deal with this awful situation. Our phones are extremely busy as a result - thank you for your patience and understanding."

Around an hour later the firm posted further to say: "The van has been recovered and the police are persuing the driver.

"We are so sorry to all affected, please get in touch with our offices and we will do everything we can to resolve. Thank you to all for sharing and reporting.

"We understand that nobody has been injured, but appreciate it has been a horrible ordeal for everyone."

Devon and Cornwall confirmed that officers followed the van from Penryn towards Trevarth, near Lanner. It was then found near farmland in Trevarth.

Two people, a 33-year-old Falmouth woman and a 46-year-old man from Penryn, were arrested.
