Young farmers in the Helston and Lizard area have been ploughing on with their charity fundraising at their latest event on Saturday.

Helston and St Keverne Young Farmers' Club held a ploughing match at Higher Penrose Farm on the way to Porthleven, with permission from Martin and Lisa Wallis.

There were 50 people ploughing and also lots of entries in the domestic section, featuring cookery, photography, handicrafts and examples of farm produce.

Outside there was a tractor pull competition, sheaf pitching and a classic and vintage tractor section, with clay pigeon shoot on nearby land belonging to Mr G Pengelly.

Club vice chairman Ben Combellack said: "It went very well in general and we had really good support.

"We'd like to thank the Wallis family for the use of the land and thank you to everyone who took part and helped organise it, and everyone that did anything towards it or attended."

He added that the weather generally stayed dry, particularly during the ploughing, when there was brilliant sunshine.

This year's event was raising money for the Sunrise Appeal at the Royal Cornwall Hospital and Children's Hospice South West, with the amount yet to be announced.
