Falmouth Town 1, Launceston 2

Launceston came from behind to overcome Falmouth Town on a wet afternoon at Bickland Park, writes Harry Tribe.

A fantastic free kick from Falmouth’s Tim Nixon gave Town the lead in the first half after they spurned a host of half-chances during the first 45 minutes.

Launceston levelled up the game in the second half when Jordan Walton finished low past goalkeeper Ryan Barnes despite some early chances for Town in the early minutes of the second interval.

Tom Savigar scored the winner passing into an empty net for Launceston late on after the ball was squared by Mike Steele.

Nixon had the best of the Town’s chances during the first half with Launceston keeper Josh Colwill doing well to smoother a one-on-one.

Nixon then went one better and curled home a free-kick from 25 yards beating the Launceston keeper low to his right to give Falmouth the lead in the 34th minute.

Town continued to threaten in the early moments of the second half when Jordan Annear was denied a great opportunity to finish into an empty goal by superb defending from Tallan Mitchell.

Launceston managed to equalise when a chance fell to Walton inside the box and he calmly slotted into the bottom corner.

Walton was again involved in Launceston’s winner when his shot fell for Steele in the box who calmly rounded the keeper and squared for Savigar to finish.
