A total of 18 fire fighters and a Fire Officer tackled a gorse fire on the Lizard peninsula last night.
Crew from St Keverne and Helston Community Fire Stations, in two fire appliances, a 4 x4 vehicle and a water carrier, attended the fire in the Goonhilly Downs area just before 10pm.
Approximately two hectares of gorse was well alight.
Fire crews asked for the assistance of the Water Carrier from Helston Community fire Station due to limited water supplies.
The fire was quickly brought under control and extinguished using two hose reels and beaters.
Anyone with information on fires being deliberately started in the countryside are advised to anonymously call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111 or contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101 with information.
Arson puts both the public and firefighters at unnecessary risk.
It ties up resources that could be in demand for other more serious incidents.
A lot of Cornwall is covered by on-call firefighters, so there's also a significant cost to each incident.
