The Greenbank Hotel will host its first ever 'Falmouth Oyster Tasting' evening on October 11 to launch the Falmouth Oyster Festival 2018.

The evening will celebrate oyster tradition in Cornwall by using the best local ingredients and combining live theatre cooking with traditional kitchen techniques.

Bobby Southworth, head chef at the Greenbank, will chat with diners throughout the evening and will demonstrate how to shuck oysters like a professional.

Tickets are priced at £49 per person and the schedule for the evening includes meeting executive chef Nick Hodges in the Water's Edge bar at 7pm before feasting on native Falmouth oysters, champagne and stout shots and then tucking in to the main menu when dinner is served at 7.30pm.

Starters include smoked haddock and oyster chowder, grilled oyster, potato gratin and samphire; mains are a sirloin steak with steamed oyster, smoked bacon rosti, autumn greens and oyster mushrooms; and dessert will be a baked chocolate local stout cake with beer sorbet and clotted cream.
