BRIDGWATER’S hardy Sea Cadets took on a powerboat trip along the Bridgwater and Taunton Canal as one of their last trips before the winter.
The 13 cadets and three staff set off from Bridgwater Docks on Sunday morning on three powerboats, heading for Maunsel Lock where they enjoyed an ice cream.
Sea Cadets leader Andrew Fisher said it was a successful trip, but said the Bridgwater end of the canal proved much more difficult to negotiate.
“The cadets thoroughly enjoyed the trip but had to overcome a few obstacles - part of the Bridgwater end of the canal is quite shallow and at one point we came across a weed barrier that clogged up the motor and so had to paddle through,” Mr Fisher said.
“But this was a very good experience for the cadets and they showed a very positive attitude throughout our trip.”
