A MAN has died following a collision in Wadebridge.

Police were called at around 11.25am yesterday (October 9) to reports of a Honda Jazz having hit a pedestrian.

The car then continued over the pavement and collided with the gable end of a house, causing extensive damage on Southern Way, Wadebridge.

The emergency services, including fire crews and ambulance personnel, were all in attendance.

The driver, a 77-year-old man, had to be freed from his car.

He was taken to Treliske Hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious, police said.

The pedestrian, an 80-year-old local man, was airlifted to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth having sustained critical injuries; he died in the early hours of this morning.

His next of kin have been informed.

Localised closures were in place whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.

Local officers as well as Officers from the Roads Policing Team, and Serious Collison Investigation Team attended the scene.
