A MAN from Pool was imprisoned for savagely beating a dog.

David Andrew Calder Owen, 30, of South Crofty Way, conducted a "deliberate, sustained, prolonged and unprovoked attack" on Archie the lurcher on April 16, according to court documents.

He was sent to prison for 18 weeks and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115 and court costs of £500.

He first pleaded not guilty before changing his plea to guilty the day of his sentencing.

A separate charge referenced his failure to avoid using "harsh, potentially painful training or disciplinary measures."

He also pleaded not guilty to this charge before changing his plea to guilty, and he was given another 18 week prison sentence to run concurrently.

As well as the prison sentence, Owen was disqualified from owning an animal for the rest of his life.

A CAMBORNE man was fined for speeding in Bodmin.

Ashley Stuart Ian Cake, 28, of Wellington Close, was caught exceeding the 70 mile per hour speed limit.

He pleaded guilty and was given three points on his licence, a fine of £160, a victim surcharge of £30 and ordered to pay costs of £85.

A WOMAN from Chacewater was fined for a driving offence.

Claire Louise Greenwell, 32, of Treyew Road in Chacewater was charged for driving whilst in a position where she could not properly control the vehicle.

She pleaded guilty and was fined £50, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85, and had six points put on her licence.

A CAMBORNE woman received a speeding fine.

Michelle Yvonne Jenkinson, 35, of Trehane Road, was caught exceeding the speed limit on Agar Road in Redruth on April 18.

She pleaded guilty and was fined £40, and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

Jenkinson also had three points put on her licence.

A RESTRONGUET woman was given a hefty fine for speeding.

Sharon Knaggs, 55, broke the speed limit in Launceston on the Dunheved Bridge on April 17 and was fined £469.

She pleaded guilty and was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £46 and court costs of £85.

Her licence was endorsed with three points.

A TRURO woman was given a large fine for driving without insurance.

Tandiwe Maphosa, 35, of Newbridge Lane, was fined £576 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £57 and court costs of £85 for the offence.

She pleaded guilty and had her licence endorsed with seven points.

A LEEDSTOWN man was given a large fine for speeding.

Jamie Jon Pere, 41, of The Square, was fined £292 for breaking the speed limit on the A30.

He pleaded guilty and had four penalty points put on his licence, and was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

A PORTHTOWAN man was fined for driving without insurance or valid licence.

Michael Raymond Smith, 22, of Porthvale in Eastcliff, was fined £80 for the offence which took place in Mount Hawke.

He pleaded guilty to two charges and had his licence endorsed with six points.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

A TRURO man was imprisoned for two weeks after he was found with drugs and a knife in his possession in St Austell.

Kevin Stanley Pickering, 48, of City Road in Boscawen, was sentenced to prison for two weeks. He committed the offence during a suspended sentence.

He was found in possession of 10.27 grams of amphetamine and a knife on October 9.

He pleaded guilty to the offences and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.

A CAMBORNE man was given a community order for drink driving.

Adam Paul Short, 36, of Wheal Gerry, drove with 104 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit being 35.

He was ordered to have treatment for alcohol dependency for six months and was put under curfew with electronic monitoring for two months between 7pm and 7am daily except Tuesdays.

He pleaded guilty and his licence was disqualified for 28 months.

He was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £85 and court costs of £85.

A BREAGE woman assaulted two police officers and was found possessing cannabis.

Katherine Emokaro Ubogu Laing, 36, of Higher Road, pleaded guilty to the offences which took place in Penzance on September 6.

She pleaded guilty and was fined £259 and ordered to pay £100 in compensation to each officer as well as £85 in court costs.

A GOONHAVERN was fined for driving a large goods vehicle without valid insurance.

Timothy Jack Wills, 28, of Pollards Close, pleaded guilty to the charge and was fined £80 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30 and court costs of £85.

His licence was also endorsed with six points.
