Brian Jonestown Massacre's Princess Pavilion gig was a brilliant showcase of psychedelic goodness.

Nearing their thirtieth year as a group, their performance was effortless, as if it were just another day in the office for the San Franciscan rockers.

But that's not to say they didn't impress. The music that seemed to come so easily to Anton Newcombe and his band blew away the audience at the Pavilion.

Anton, in his deerstalker hat, took the crowd on mind-melting tangents away from the back catalogue and into unfamiliar territory.

Percussionist Joel Gion took centre stage and looked understandably smug on the tambourine as the night progressed.

Brian Jonestown Massacre move at their own pace. They took their time in between songs and were in no hurry to finish up, and the audience was tangibly entranced each time the music fired up again.

The night ended with Anton taking up the drumkit and treating Falmouth to a jam, before inviting onlookers to "cash me outside" and exiting the stage.

After Falmouth, Brian Jonestown Massacre headed to Motion in Bristol and then onwards for the rest of their UK tour which sees them play a different city almost every night in October.
