TWO Falmouth women were among the hundreds of thousands of protesters who joined the People's Vote March in London on Saturday.

Sue Morant and Patsy Rice, whose daughter Holly had travelled up with fellow students from Exeter University, are seeking a referendum on the final Brexit deal.

The march, believed to have as many as 700,000 people in attendance, was started by London mayor Sadiq Khan, who addressed Parliament Square along with celebrity speakers which included Steve Coogan, Delia Smith and Deborah Meaden.

Sue said: "The camaraderie of people, the frustration of people attending, all ages, all creeds, all nationalities.

"We even met people from France and USA who were concerned about how the UK leaving the EU would affect them, their families and businesses.

"We also met people who had voted to leave the EU in 2016, but after realising that much of what we had all been told were lies and seeing the complete mess we are in now, they are regretting their original vote."

They attended the march to protest at the "absolute debacle" that has taken place and to show support for a people’s vote.

She added: "It doesn’t matter whether you voted to remain or leave, no one voted for this absolute dog's dinner of a ‘deal’ and that’s what the march was for."

Sue and Patsy caught a coach from Plymouth at 4.30am and arrived back in Falmouth in the early hours of Sunday morning.
