The "Meghan Markle effect" can see clothes worn by the newest female member of the royal family sell out within minutes - so imagine the celebration at Falmouth company Seasalt this morning after she sported one of their coats during a tour of New Zealand.

Rain falling over Wellington during their two-day visit to the capital has seen Meghan having to reach for some hardier outwear - and she chose a navy blue Seasalt coat to keep her dry on a visit around a national park.

The Falmouth-based company's branding can be seen clearly on one of the arms of the coat, with its red and white striped lining paying tribute to its nautical links.

A spokesperson for Seasalt said: "Imagine our delight this morning when we spotted Meghan, Duchess of Sussex in one of our rainwear pieces on her tour of the Commonwealth."

Meghan and husband Prince Harry are currently on their first official tour as a married couple - a 16-day trip around the Commonwealth, taking in Australia, Fiji, The Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand.

Now nearing the end of their trip, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were on a walk around the Abel Tasman National Park when Meghan wisely chose a warm outer-layer to team with her black jeans and white trainers.

It is something that Seasalt know plenty about, as waterproof coats were the start of their business 37 years ago.
