Worker loses fingers in docks horror

A DOCKS worker who plays soccer for Falmouth Town has lost three fingers in a horrific accident at work.

It is the second time Lee Harris has suffered a major injury at Falmouth Docks.

And it happened within three days of his return to work after breaking his ankle in a game for Falmouth Town.

Mr Harris's fingers were severed under seven and a half tonnes of pressure as he carried out repairs on a "cursed ship".

The 26-year-old steelworker was punching metal plates using an air hammer when his three middle fingers on his right hand were crushed by a mechanical arm.

The metal pipe-clips were destined for a ship labelled a "nightmare" by workers following an accident only three days earlier when two Filipino crew members fell overboard.

Both were treated in hospital.

The 13-year-old girl screamed as the firework struck her on the forehead.
