Staff at Penryn-based Blue Flame Heating Solutions came together to celebrate the company's 30th anniversary.

To mark the occasion the firm threw two parties at The Cove, Maenporth, on Friday (October, 26) – one for long-standing customers and suppliers, and one for staff.

Blue Flame was set up by directors Paul Smith and Mark Bolitho in 1988 and officially turned 30 on Wednesday, October 17.

The two founders started the business from home after training with British Gas.

Mark Bolitho said: “It’s hard to believe it’s been 30 years since Paul and I left British Gas.

“People thought we were mad when we left the security of the ‘gas board’ to start our own business, however, the last 30 years have proved that it was the right decision!”

Paul Smith said: “We’ve had a lot of fun this year creating the film following the team, attending events and meeting customers.

“It’s been brilliant to look back at what we’ve achieved and I’m very proud of the work we do and the role we play in the community.”

Fellow director Simon Foxhall, who joined in 2011, said: “We are so pleased that so many people were able to come along and help us celebrate – it was a great evening.

“Paul and Mark laid the foundations for the success of the business with their hard work and friendly nature, and it’s been a pleasure to be part of the ongoing story.”

To mark the occasion the company premiered its anniversary film, which charts three decades of progression.

Blue Flame now employs over 100 people and supports 12,000 customers across Cornwall.
