Burglars put a dampener on Monday's bonfire night celebrations when they targeted Falmouth Cricket Club hoping to make off with the proceeds from ticket sales on the hugely successful evening.
Organisers were one step ahead though and made sure that, as always, nothing of significant value was left inside the premises.
The criminals tried to gain access by smashing through the ceiling, and they stole a small amount of cash from the tills before ransacking the club in search of the night's takings from the club's firework display.
The club's secretary Greg Stevens said: "There's very little to steal within the cricket club, and people think there is. It's frustrating more than anything else."
Even though nothing of great value was stolen, Greg mentioned that the burglary will affect the club's insurance costs.
