The people of Cornwall marked their respect this morning for the thousands of lives that have been lost while serving their country at war.

Services took place all over the county and the sun shone on a jam-packed Kimberley Park in Falmouth.

It was a particularly poignant two-minute silence at 11am, as it marked the 100-year anniversary of Armistice Day in the First World War.

Many hundreds of people filled Helston town centre to see the parade and take part in the service, which saw RNAS Culdrose join with Helston Royal British Legion, the town council and youth organisations for a combined event.

The open-air service was led by Rev Danny Reed, minister of the Central Methodist Church Helston, and took place in front of the Garden of Remembrance in front of the Grylls Monument.

Here is just a small selection of the photographs taken in Falmouth and Helston. Pick up a copy of Wednesday's Packet for a four-page special on today's momentous events.
