Traders in Falmouth have been warned to be on their guard for fake £20 notes.
The alert has been made by Falmouth BID manager Richard Wilcox after the alarm was raised by Pete Fraser of Harbour Lights.
Mr Wilcox said: "It appears there may be fake £20 notes in circulation so do please be vigilant.
"Things to look out for among other things are the paper quality and colour variations, in particular around the serial numbers. Do report the matter to police if you come across this."
