A CORNWALL-based online fitness programme designed to heal post-baby bodies, has been given the royal seal of approval following reports that the Duchess of Cambridge is a fan of its approach.

According to palace insiders, the Duchess of Cambridge has been using MUTU System to regain her famously trim figure after the birth of Prince Louis in April, crediting the programme for helping get her abdominal muscles back in shape and strengthening her pelvic floor.

Founded in 2010 by Wendy Powell from her home in Truro, MUTU System is an award-winning restorative online postnatal exercise and health programme that’s recommended by doctors and pelvic health specialists around the world.

Designed for women who experience body issues after giving birth, such as a weak core or pelvic floor, weight gain or a gap in abdominal muscles (Diastasis Recti), the programme has developed a loyal international community of ‘MUTU Mammas’, with over 50,000 users worldwide.

Wendy Powell said: “We are beyond thrilled that such a high-profile mother as the Duchess of Cambridge might be using the MUTU System, not least as a role model, but also as a campaigner for mental health issues which play such an important role in early motherhood.

"The Duchess of Cambridge’s circumstances, priorities and resources are certainly extraordinary. But she’s also just a woman who has had babies and experiences the same feelings as the rest of us. The difference is that she’s got the world watching and judging her.

“MUTU System stands for every woman and for her right to feel amazing in her body. Her right to the dignity of a body that works and that feels good. We believe every woman should be free from judgement and fully empowered to make her own choices about her body and what she does with it. Not to be a certain size or shape, not to conform to any ‘ideals’, but rather to be strong, confident and to deeply know her value, her beauty and her worth.”

Already popular with mums across the UK and the US, MUTU System has a track record in addressing postnatal problems which women receive very little education about. Issues such as urinary leakage and symptoms of Diastasis Recti are treatable using the correct health and exercise approach, but women are commonly led to believe they have to live with these conditions, needlessly facing decades of misery and discomfort.

The firm says that after using MUTU System 92% of women reported an improvement in bladder symptoms including urinary leakage and 94% of women reported an improvement in signs and symptoms of Diastasis Recti.

MUTU employs 10 people from across Cornwall and the US and has recently been shortlisted for the Working Mums Employer of the Year Award.
