Police officers reveal news of the murder charge
Police have charged a man in connection to a death in Cornwall.
Lesley Davies, aged 81 from Par, sustained life-threatening head injuries after being assaulted in the street on the afternoon of Thursday, July 19.
She died as a result of her injuries at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth in the early hours of Saturday, August 4.
Police have now charged Brian Downie, aged 69, from Pembroke Close, Par with murder.
Downie today appeared before Judge Darlow at Plymouth Crown Court where he was remanded to Exeter prison.
He now awaits a pre-trial hearing at Truro Crown Court on a date to be confirmed.
