FARM animals which were subjected to poor living conditions have resulted in a community order for a 75 year-old man.

Vivian John Exelby, of Little Borthog, Carnhell Green, near Camborne, admitted 12 charges of failing to take steps to ensure the needs of the animals were met.

Magistrates heard how poultry had access to numerous hazards such as empty plastic sacks, old machinery and collapsed buildings, which had the potential to cause them harm.

Other charges related to broken and bent mesh, corrugated iron and damaged wooden panels; not having a suitable dry lying area; failing to provide them with a suitable diet; unnecessary suffering to a pig; insufficient water supply for pigs; two counts of failing to protect pigs from pain, suffering injury and disease; not having a dry lying area for pigs; housing pigs in isolation; keeping a hen in an unsuitable arc with solid sides, no natural light and damp conditions; failing to protect a pig from a collapsed roof.

Exelby pleaded guilty to all 12 offences, which took place before April 30 this year.

He will be electronically monitored for four months and was ordered to pay £1,500 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

An order was made under section 34 of the Animal Welfare Act 2006 banning him from having any responsibility of all farm animals.

* A TRURO woman admitted failing to ensure that her son attended primary school regularly, Truro magistrates heard.

Jemma Bray, aged 39, of Merrifield Close, did not ensure that he regularly went to Archbishop Benson School between October 30, 2017 and October 10, 2018.

She was fined £80 and ordered to pay £400 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* A MAN who twice entered a Truro street from which he was banned, has been jailed for six weeks.

Robert Shane Burns, aged 46, of City Road, admitted being in Boscawen Street on November 17 and 18 without reasonable excuse.

He had been prohibited from the street as part of a criminal behaviour order made by Bodmin magistrates on June 14, 2017.

Burns was sent to prison because he was on licence form a sentence for similar offences and because the offence was aggravated by his record of previous offending.

He was also ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge.

* DRIVING without insurance has resulted in a ban from the roads for a Truro man.

Liam Curtis Johnson, aged 22, of Newquay Road, admitted driving on the M5 motorway at Bridgwater on December 1 last year.

He was fined £180 and ordered to pay £150 costs and £30 victim surcharge. He was disqualified from driving for 30 days.

* USING threatening or abusive words or behaviour has resulted in a fine for a Penzance man.

Shane Neil Arthur, aged 27, of Bread Street, admitted committing the offence in the town on November 19.

He was fined £50 and ordered to pay £30 victim surcharge.

* A TEENAGER who damaged a radiator and destroyed a coffee table has appeared before Truro magistrates.

Aaron Lee Bick, aged 18, of Parc An Tansys, Camborne, admitted committing the offence on November 19.

He was fined £80 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* A MAN who exceeded a 30mph speed limit has been fined by Truro magistrates.

Paul James Carey Bateman, aged 49, of Tressa Dowr Lane, Truro, admitted committing the offence on May 2 between Perranporth and the A30 at Boxheater.

He was fined £307 and ordered to pay £250 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six penalty points.

* DRUNK and disorderly behaviour in Helston led to a fine for a Blackwater man.

Stefan William Ledden, aged 25, of Wicket Way, admitted committing the offence in Coinagehall Street on September 29.

The offence took place during the period of a suspended sentence made by magistrates on April 16, for assaulting a police officer.

The sentence order has now been revised for 12 weeks suspended for 18 months. Magistrates felt it was unjust to activate the current suspended sentence.

* A MAN who exceeded a 70mph limit on the A30 near Launceston has been fined.

Charles Alexander Llewelyn Heide, aged 39, of Wheal Rose, Scorrier, admitted the offence which took place on May 22 in a VW Passat.

He was fined £95 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* DRIVING without an MoT certificate resulted in a court appearance for a Mount Ambrose man.

James Lindsay Fleming Johnston, aged 29, of Martinvale Parc, admitted committing the offence in a BMW on June 15 at Treleigh, Redruth.

He was fined £84 and ordered t pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* A TRURO man drove without insurance, a court heard.

Andrew James Moore, aged 53, of Alma Road, Trehaverne, admitted committing the offence on July 14 on Tresawls Road in the city.

He was fined £173 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with eight penalty points.

* A CARNON DOWNS woman admitted assaulting another woman, Truro magistrates heard.

Lisa Janine Whitfield, aged 42, of Chycara House, admitted committing the offence in Truro on April 21.

She was fined £50 and ordered to pay £100 compensation, £30 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

* A PORTHLEVEN man has been banned from the roads for a year after admitting dangerous driving.

Michael James Parker, aged 26, of Unity Road, committed the offence in a BMW 323i, in Camborne on January 9.

He was also fined £270 and ordered to pay £160 costs and £30 victim surcharge.
