The proceeds from a fishing competition were recently handed over to Falmouth RNLI Coxswain Jonathon Blakeston by local charter boat skippers Andy Howell and Nigel Hodge at Falmouth Lifeboat Station.

The competition was run over two days in September, with 32 anglers taking part on board the Anglo Dawn (Falmouth) skippered by Andy and the Sea Watch 1 skippered by Nigel.

Andy Howell explained how the £300 donation to Falmouth RNLI came about: "We thought we would like to give the money remaining from the competition entrance fees, after expenses had been taken out, to charity and Falmouth RNLI was the one we chose.

"Falmouth lifeboats cover this area and we wanted to give something back to those who help when we need it.’

On receiving the money, Jonathon said: "Being a charity, donations like this are very important to the RNLI. They help with meeting the cost of saving lives at sea and we are very grateful to Andy and Nigel for their support."
