STRONG winds have been battering our area for more than 24 hours, with gusts of up to 60mph.
However there is good news on the horizon, with the weather set to improve later on Sunday.
While the wind continues to gust to more than 50mph on Sunday morning, the forecast is for it to die down this afternoon, with speeds easing to 20mph and less from mid-afternoon.
After that, the area can expect calmer conditions through the rest of the day and into Monday.
Monday is set to be a calm, cloudy day, with a mix of rain, cloud and sunny intervals for the rest of the week, with winds of no more than 20mph.
