After 18 months without a vicar the Meneage parishes have welcomed a new priest-in-charge.

Rev Mike North officially took over the Meneage Benefice last Wednesday, with a service at St Mawgan in Meneage Church to celebrate his licensing.

The four parishes of Mawgan, St Martin, Manaccan and St Anthony have not had a dedicated vicar since June 2017, when Rev Lesley Walker left to become Bishop's Chaplain.

The service took place with the Rural Dean for the Kerrier Deanery, Canon David Miller of Helston, taking the place of the Archdeacon in presenting Rev Mike to the Rt Rev Dr Chris Goldsmith, Bishop of St Germans, who took the service.

Watching on were members of all the parishes, with more than 120 people attending.

Bishop Chris used readings chosen by the new minister to say that God notices everyday things and, whilst he cannot be manipulated by generous gifts, extravagance is sometimes appropriate - as in the example of the Mawgan Daffodil Festival.

Afterwards there was a chance to meet the new vicar over a buffet.
