A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of robbery after a Post Office van was stolen while a postman was working this afternoon.
Police said they were called at 1.43pm today to Mullion following reports of a vehicle theft.
A spokesman said: “It was further reported that a man had taken a Royal Mail postal van whilst it was in service and was believed to be in possession of a weapon.
“Area searches were carried out by local officers and the van was later located at the local Royal Mail depot. The man was detained by officers.
“A 47-year-old man from Helston was arrested on suspicion of robbery and taken to police custody for questioning. He was later further arrested for assaulting a police officer.”
