Falmouth School was full of festive cheer this week, with the annual Christmas Concert again showcasing the superb talents of the students.

There was a wide range of performers right the way through from Year 7 to Year 13 college students as well as again being joined by primary students in front of a packed house in the Main Hall.

Head of Music Matt Fox said: “It was fantastic to see so many people here supporting the school and the students who have been great.

"There is so much talent at Falmouth School and nights like this just give an opportunity to highlight it. Thanks again to all of our peripatetic support and everyone who helped put on the concert.”

The evening was expertly compered by Year 11 student, Reuben Hesser, who juggled his role on the microphone and in several of the performances superbly well.

The senior choir kicked things off with ‘Seasons Of Love’, followed by a lovely solo performance from Emily Rowe.

The audience enjoyed a ‘Jingle Bell Boogie’ with the brass band next, before the primary performers took to the stage for two excellent pieces, including ‘Good King Wenceslas’.

The visiting primary students were then joined on stage by the Jazz Band, which also featured some guests from the teaching staff at Falmouth School. Renditions of some classics such as ‘All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth’, ‘Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas’ and ‘Jingle Bell Rock’, had the audience joining in.

Marcia Hammond and Ed Tinson put their own unique spin on ‘White Christmas’, before the boys' choir belted out a fine rendition of ‘Have a Holly Jolly Christmas’.

Sennen Addinall and Maddie Brown slowed things down with a lovely version of ‘Baby It’s Cold Outside’, followed by another double act from Ollie Fielding and Eloise Williams’ performance of ‘It’s beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas’.

School band Magpie raised the tempo with an enjoyable and quirky rendition of ‘Stop the Cavalry’, as did Cerys Wilcox and Esmee Wyatt, who showcased some impressive harmonies for ‘Walking In A Winter Wonderland’.

As a fantastic evening wound down, there was an excellent solo performance of ‘Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)’ from Brooke Mitchell, followed by double finale of ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’ and ‘Silent Night’ from the Super Choir.
