A MAN has been charged with a string of offences after an incident that allegedly saw a Royal Mail van stolen in Mullion.
Police were called at 1.43pm on Wednesday following reports of a vehicle theft.
It was further reported that a man had allegedly taken a Royal Mail postal van whilst it was in service and was believed to be in possession of a weapon.
Area searches were carried out by local officers and the van was later located at the local Royal Mail depot.
A man was detained by officers.
This afternoon police said that James Pearson, aged 47, of Mullion Cove, had been charged with blackmail, possession of a bladed article, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a license and assaulting an emergency worker.
He has been remanded and will appear at Bodmin Magistrates Court on Friday.
