Camborne will continue its festive tradition this year, holding its annual Children’s Lantern Parade.

The event, which brings the whole town together with the presentation of lights and music, is expected to involve ten schools and their handmade lanterns.

Students will be led through the town by Father Christmas and will be accompanied by the Combined School’s Samba Band and the Combined Boys and Girls’ Brigade Band to give a distinct South American sound to the occasion.

The lanterns are expected to resemble some wild and wonderful creatures. “Where else will you see snowflakes, jellyfish and a UFO all in one place?” said Samantha Hassett, from St Meriadoc Nursery and Infant Academy.

The event will take place on Wednesday December 19th starting at 6:30pm. Roads along the parade route will be closed from 5:30pm, reopening after the parade at around 8:30pm.
