Yet more traffic lights have been put up in Falmouth’s Bickland Water Road and are expected to remain there until March - leaving beleaguered neighbouring residents infuriated.

Information on Cormac’s website shows there are two different sets of lights in place.

The first set, which begin just before the entrance of Watson Marlow, are due to be in place until March 1, for a drainage pipe to be installed.

The second set, taking in the junction of Bickland Water Road with Mongleath Road, are showing as being for South West Water Works, for “repairs to dangerous reinstatement.”

The good news is that this second set of lights are only due to be in place for ten days, with work expected to be completed by January 8.

The latest sets of lights comes hot on the heels of eight months of disruption due to traffic lights at Union Hill Corner, which were put up at the end of April and only came down just before Christmas.

Those who live in the area have described the latest development as “completely unacceptable” – particularly as the lights have been in place since early Thursday morning, but with no workers on site.

One resident of the neighbouring Boslowick area, who asked not to be named, told the Packet: “It is obviously something to do with the new houses, but they were put up early Thursday morning. There is no one currently working and I am sure there won't be till at least the end of the next week.

“After months of distribution already it's completely unacceptable. We can't get hold of the council because it's not an emergency.”

Lights had been temporarily in place in the same location shortly before Christmas, but were removed over the festive period.

Disruption in the area is likely to remain for at least another six months, however, as work continues on the new Chy An Dowr housing development off Bickland Water Road, opposite the junction with Mongleath Road. This is due to continue until June.
