The second phase of Western Power Distribution works has started in Falmouth meaning that there will be free Friday and Saturday parking until April.

The project began in early 2018 and will be completed in phases between January and April over the next five years.

Work on the second phase began on Monday and will focus on reinstating the cobbles in Market Street as well as the electrical connection for all addresses in that area to the new supply.

Cobbles in Church Street will also be taken up this year to be reinstated between January and March 2020.

Western Power Distribution have confirmed that screens to mitigate noise will be erected at each works location.

During the works, road closures and restricted traffic flow procedures will be in place.

Works will take place between 7am and 7pm every day although this is subject to change.

Businesses who feel they may be affected by the works are encouraged to liaise with Paul Horrell, Project Liaison Officer at Kier via paul.horrell@kier.co.uk or 07896 279134.

The current advice is to ensure all deliveries and collections are undertaken as early as possible and before 11am when the usual highways regulation along Church Street is enforced.

Free parking will be offered every Friday and Saturday during the works from this weekend until Friday April 5.

This will be in every Cornwall Council managed car park in the town – The Quarry, The Moor, New Street, Grove Place, The Dell, Gyllyngvase (note of course Church St Car park is closed due to the works).
