Children's Hospice South West (CHSW) has announced that the 10th anniversary Moonlight Memory Walk is returning to Falmouth on Saturday March 30.

This year, the event will be open to men as well as women for the first time in celebration of its tenth anniversary.

The five mile nighttime sponsored walk around Falmouth sees participants walk in memory and celebration of loved ones who have passed away.

It will start with a memory ceremony which includes poems, readings and music before the countdown and the start of the walk at 10pm.

Kiley Pearce, Events Fundraiser for CHSW said “We are really excited about it being the 10th anniversary Moonlight Memory Walk. The event has become iconic in Falmouth and allows people the opportunity to walk in memory of their loved ones and to celebrate their lives in a really positive and uplifting way. We are delighted to also be opening the event up to men for the first time, so we hope that we have a bumper year of walkers to celebrate 10 years of the event.”

Since the Moonlight Memory Walk started back in 2009, when the appeal to build Cornwall’s only children’s hospice Little Harbour had just begun, the event has raised £250,000.

Those wishing to take part are encouraged to register beforehand online, entry costs just £10 per person which includes a memory candle bag, t shirt, medal and goody bag. Participants are reminded that this is a sponsored event and the registration fee only covers the cost of their participation. For anyone not able to attend on the evening they can join the event virtually or make a donation to CHSW.

Money raised from the event helps CHSW to continue providing care and support to children needing to use Little Harbour children’s hospice in St Austell and their families.
