A Year 9 student from Falmouth School has shown great courage in "Braving the Shave" to raise an incredible amount of money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Nia Bailey Jones' head shave took place just before Christmas and after a huge amount of buzz and support from within the school, she was cheered on by fellow students during the shave.

The cause was one close to the heart of Nia, who is originally from Wales.

She said: “My mum had cancer and it was tough on all our friends and family, but thanks to Macmillan we received the guidance and support to get through it.”

Nia’s total raised currently stands at a whopping £1,700 and counting, with nearly £300 of the total coming from staff and students at Falmouth School.

Head of School Alex George said: “It is fabulous that Nia has raised this money, there cannot be any family that has not in some way been affected by cancer and we were delighted to be able to support her with this fundraising for such a worthy cause.”
