A PENSIONER died in a car crash in Newquay yesterday.
Police were called at around 4.15pm following reports of a single vehicle collision in Newquay.
A Kia Venga collided with the railings on Henver Road, Newquay, with the junction of Porth Way on the B3276.
The driver of the car, a 73-year-old local man sustained critical injuries and was declared deceased at the scene; both his passengers were unharmed and his next of kin are aware.
The road was closed for around five and a half hours for investigation work undertaken by the Serious Collision Investigations team.
Police continue to appeal for witnesses and would like to speak to anyone who has yet to come forward in relation to this matter.
An air ambulance attended as well as the police.
