TWO men are due to appear before a judge next month after a serious crash in Bournemouth.

Ioan Scarlat and David Lee, who is also known as Steven Hopper, were charged with offences after a collision in West Way on May 15 last year.

Scarlat, 23, and Lee, 42, first appeared at Poole Magistrates' Court in December. The case was adjourned due to problems finding a solicitor to take it.

Last week, they came back before the same court. The case was heard and the pair will next appear at Bournemouth Crown Court in February.

Police were called to West Way at 10.10am on the morning of the crash after a silver Citroen Saxo left the road and hit a tree.

A man in his 20s was airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious injuries. He has since been discharged.

After the crash, police released a CCTV image of a black Vauxhall Astra that was believed to have been travelling along West Way at the time of the crash.

Lee was later issued with a postal requisition for offences of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, drug driving and failing to stop after an accident.

Scarlat was also issued for with a postal requisition for offences of dangerous driving, drug driving and possession of a class B drug.

The men have not yet entered pleas.
