WE are fast approaching the deadline for voting in our first monthly award in the Packet Pub of the Year competition.

Having launched the awards last month, we have had an excellent response to the first award for Food Pub of the Year - the votes are mounting up.

The category is live for five more days until Sunday (5pm), after which votes for this month's award will no longer be valid.

The two pubs with the most nominations will receive secret visits from our judges to decide the winner – so publicans, make sure you get sharing on social media and even on the bar!

There are a total of ten categories up for grabs over the course of the year. The winner of this month's category, together with details of the next award category, will be announced in the Packet and online, on Wednesday, February 20.

As a reminder, monthly winners will receive a free advert in our new-look entertainments section The Guide, plus a framed certificate which we will present to the pub with a photo call.

The overall winner of Packet Pub of the Year 2019 will receive a whopping £1,000 of advertising across our titles' platforms - online and in print. The overall Pub of the Year will be chosen from the ten category winners in December.

The other nine categories are: Rural/Village Pub; Town Pub; Pub With A View; Real Ale Pub; Dog Friendly Pub; Community Pub; Most Sustainable; Most Innovative; Family Friendly Pub.
