A WOMAN who stole buoyancy aids to the value of £260 from Macsalvors in Penryn has been handed a community order by Truro magistrates.

Claire Louise Wright, aged 33, of no fixed address, originally denied the offence which took place on May 12, but later changed her plea to guilty.

She also admitted committing an offence whilst the subject of a conditional discharge, which had been imposed on July 4, 2017.

Wright has been made the subject of a rehabilitation order and was ordered to pay a total of £575 compensation. There was no order for costs due to her lack of means.

Wright had also previously been accused of stealing the two bottles of perfume worth £76 from Superdrug in Redruth on September 30; kitchen gift sets and cocktails mixers worth £50 from Wilko in Redruth on October 9; confectionery worth £9 from Wilko on October 4; five bottles of fragrances worth £180 from Superdrug on October 29 - but these cases were dismissed at last week's hearing.

* A FALMOUTH man has been hit with a big fine after exceeding a speed limit on the A30.

Thomas Martin Scott, aged 58, of Florence Place, admitted committing the offence at Launceston in a Skoda Octavia on July 31.

He was fined £727 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £72 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with six points.

* A WOMAN who drove while disqualified was found to be over the drink-drive limit.

Lynsey Jane Abrahams, aged 34, of Redvers Heights, Redruth, admitted committing the offences on January 16 in a grey Mini.

She had 82mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

Magistrates imposed a community order in which Abrahams will have to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

She was banned from driving for three and a half years.

Abrahams also admitted driving without insurance and she was ordered by magistrates to pay £85 costs and £85 victim surcharge.

* DRIVING whilst over the legal alcohol limit has resulted in a 12-month disqualification for a 52 year-old woman.

Christine Elizabeth Lees, aged 52, of North Roskear Meadow, Tuckingmill, admitted committing the offence on Dudnance Lane, Pool, in a Vauxhall Vectra on January 19.

She was fined £184 and order to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* A TEENAGER from Helston has had a community order imposed on her by Truro magistrates.

Lauren Reed, aged 18, of Coronation Park, pleaded guilty to three offences when she appeared in court on Monday.

On January 10 she stole food and drink to the value of £35.70 from Tesco in Redruth and also admitted assault by beating.

On November 25 last year she stole food and electronic items to the value of £96 belonging to Asda.

She has been placed on electronic monitoring for eight weeks and ordered to pay £85 costs, £85 victim surcharge and £50 compensation.

* A TREGONY man has received a suspended jail sentence after breaching a restraining order.

James Lee Symons, aged 39, of Lords Meadow, admitted committing the offence between July 13 and August 27, when he made phone calls and sent facebook messages to the victim, as well as visiting a road which he was prohibited from entering.

His six-month prison term was suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to pay £115 victim surcharge and £85 costs.

A DRINK driver has been banned from the roads for 20 months.

Claire Trembath, aged 40, of Edward Street, Camborne, admitted committing the offence on January 19 in a Peugeot 107 on the A30 at Tolvaddon.

She had 78mcgs of alcohol in 100mls of breath. The legal limit is 35mcgs.

She was also fined £198 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge.

* DRIVING with defective tyres has resulted in a heavy fine for a Blackwater man.

Daniel Mark Bunney, aged 34, of Wheal Concord Way, was found guilty of two offences on October 26 whilst driving through Truro in a BMW.

The first related to a tyre on the rear offside wheel which had inadequate tread, the second was the rear near side wheel which was fitted with a pneumatic tyre which had the ply or cord exposed.

He was fined £600 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £60 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

* EXCEEDING a 30mph speed limit has resulted in a fine for a Falmouth man.

Stephen Trezona, aged 48, of Dracaena Avenue, admitted committing the offence on July 31 at St Blazey in a Volkswagen Transporter.

He was fined £115 and ordered to pay £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge. His licence was endorsed with three points.

* STEALING a bass speaker and a computer mouse from a Falmouth store has resulted in a court appearance for a 28 year-old man.

Barry Michael Hardman, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to the offence from Trago Mills on August 7.

He also admitted stealing a £1.69 bottle of raspberry flavoured coconut water from WH Smith in the town on the same day, as well as stealing five chocolate bars and a drink from The Natural Store and also a wrap and a can of Redbull from Tesco.

He received a 12-month conditional discharge and was ordered to pay £85 costs and £20 victim surcharge.

For the Natural Store theft he was ordered to pay £3.50 compensation.
