Restronguet Sailing Club has handed over a cheque for £80 to Falmouth RNLI Coxswain Jonathon Blakeston at Falmouth Lifeboat Station.

The money was raised from club members taking part in the club’s annual Christmas Pudding Race held in December.

During a visit to the station, Restronguet Sailing Club Commodore Henry Metcalfe explained how the money was raised.

He said: "Instead of taking the normal race entry fee, we asked members to make a donation and in fact we collected more than if we had charged our usual rate."

He continued: "The sailing club has supported the RNLI for many years, certainly since I became a member nearly 40 years ago.

"We raise money for charities every season and the RNLI is always either the sole or main beneficiary.

"We support the RNLI because it’s a well-respected charity and benefits many. One day we may need help from the volunteer lifeboat crews ourselves."

Falmouth RNLI Coxswain Jonathon Blakeston thanked Henry and Restronguet Sailing Club for their ongoing support.
