Owners of hugely popular burger joint Boo Koos in Helston are opening a new restaurant on The Moor in Falmouth.

Owner David Lemon hopes that the new, bigger eatery will open in time for summer.

Boo Koos will take over from Prezzo in The Old Post Office, which closed in 2018.

David said: "People are very, very pleased, customers are all talking to the staff about how exciting it is."

Looking forward to the new venture, David is keen to make sure the restaurant retains its unique character whilst expanding to the bigger location.

He said: "We're apprehensive and excited all at the same time.

"We have got to try and keep the smaller feel, which is why I have always shunned away from a chain idea.

"It's very difficult to keep it intimate and personal and we pride ourselves on that local feel.

"We are not missing the things that matter to people, like the service. Ultimately we're not about being this huge corporation or anything like that, we really like to have something unique."

As part of their efforts to bring the authentic American experience along to the Falmouth joint, David and his wife Lisa will be redecorating the old Prezzo interior with reformed timber and Americana just like in the original Boo Koos.

Lisa, who is from Texas, makes the trip back home every year and brings back authentic American knick knacks to adorn the walls.

The inspiration for Boo Koos came from the couple's time in the states, where David lived between 1988 and 98.

David said: "We have taken ideas from maybe half a dozen or more burger joints in San Antonio, [Texas].

"We have tried to create something that we miss. It's a taste of home to us to have this style of restaurant as close to the original feel as we can have it."
